Our primary focus is our clean cookstove program due to the overwhelming demand. Across Oaxaca and Chiapas, Planet Wise Solutions is proving that innovation and empathy can transform daily life. More than 300 La Mazateca clean cookstoves now burn efficiently in homes that were once filled with smoke, reducing firewood use by 75 percent and eliminating indoor air pollution equivalent to 15–20 cigarettes a day. Families breathe easier. Forests recover. Children spend less time gathering wood and more time learning.

Each project follows the same simple, powerful cycle: Co-Design → Build → Train Locals. Community members—many of them women—earn income as trained stove builders and system maintainers. Because they helped create and construct these technologies, the result is 100 percent adoption and 10 + year durability. This is how technology becomes local: by belonging to the people who use it.

Recognized Innovation & Growth

The La Mazateca cookstove earned the 2014 Humanitarian Tech Award from the Licensing Executives Society International for its life-changing, replicable design. Building on that success, Planet Wise Solutions is expanding from Oaxaca and Chiapas into new regions across Latin America—always through community-led development, with women at the heart of local leadership.

PWS impact extends beyond clean cooking

Safe Water

Clean water, close to home. Our rainwater-harvesting and bio-sand filtration systems provide up to 2,000 gallons of safe drinking water per household—enough for three to five months each year. Families stay healthier, and girls can spend their days in school instead of carrying water.

Sustainable Sanitation

Turning waste into renewal. Our composting latrines are odor-free, pit-free, and groundwater-safe, transforming waste into nutrient-rich compost that restores soil health and supports food security.
