Founded in 2008 as Water for Humans and relaunched as Planet Wise Solutions in 2025, our organization grew from a simple idea: the smartest technology is useless if it doesn’t fit the lives of the people it’s meant to serve. Today, we focus on co-creating solutions that are as culturally grounded as they are technically sound.
Our interdisciplinary team—engineers, environmental scientists, and local partners—works in Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico, where access to clean water, sanitation, and safe cooking remains a daily challenge. Through partnerships with trusted local NGOs, we ensure every project is designed, built, and maintained by the community itself.

Our flagship innovation, the La Mazateca cookstove, reduces wood use by up to 75% and eliminates indoor smoke exposure. But our mission extends far beyond stoves. We support rainwater harvesting systems, biosand water filters, and composting latrines—each one tested for durability, simplicity, and long-term usability.

What makes us different is our definition of success. We measure it not by the number of devices delivered, but by the number of people empowered to maintain and expand them. By training and paying local builders—many of them women—we transform short-term projects into engines of local enterprise.

At Planet Wise Solutions, we believe that sustainable technology isn’t a gift—it’s a partnership. It’s what happens when innovation respects tradition, and when communities lead the way toward their own resilient future.
